ABOUT
DORA LANE

Her name was Nana Dora, the woman who inspired us to love food.

She owned the neighborhood store where we grew up and even had a food truck. With a farm as her back yard, she harvested her own ingredients to prepare the dishes she sold.

She came alive when she fed people, particularly when they smiled after the first bite and the second bite, and when they went in for the third.

And we strive to capture Nana Dora's spirit with our food -
traditional dishes that remind people of home but
with a modern & youthful twist.

MARCUS BRIGGS

OWNER

Marcus spent summers on his Nana Dora’s farm in Arkansas; hauling hay, feeding pigs & chickens and picking and shelling peas. But the memories that shine brightest revolve around time in the kitchen with her, enjoying delicious meals together while watching Young & the Restless. He certainly inherited her entrepreneurial spirit, her love of food and her passion for feeding and serving the community.

Marcus has been a professional in the world of hospitality, special events and catering for two decades. He began his career serving and bartending is some of Dallas’ most loved spots. He discovered his passion for catering when he & his wife, Jewel, opened Cohost in 2010. He began the rentals division in 2019 and currently directs it and oversees daily operations.

Marcus recognized a hunger for simple but modern Southern food in Dallas. Inspired by Nana Dora's love of food and community, Dora Lane was born.  On any given day, you will find him installing and fixing things at the kitchen and (of course) testing the food. He is not typically a part of day-to-day operations, but when the need for grilling or smoking on site arises you will find him there performing with a smile.
